THE DECIDING COMPARISON
ENSŌ gives the user control. OOKA gives the pod control. This was the most important practical distinction in the panel’s final ranking.
Heat adjustment gave traditional shisha users more say over the session. The panel favored ENSŌ’s balance of output, control and construction, despite weaker battery endurance.
Pods make setup and cleaning unusually straightforward. The closed heat profile keeps the experience consistent, but leaves less room for user-driven adjustments.
Smokegear also reports observations from seven OOKA users beyond the three-person scoring panel. They generally highlighted convenience and limited manual heat adjustment. These supplementary observations are not part of the scoring, and the seven individual reports were not attached for separate verification. OOKA remains 9.1/10.
THE HANDS-ON VERDICTS
Our test observations appear separately from specifications or features stated by manufacturers. Product photos are manufacturer-supplied illustrations, not Smokegear testing photographs.
Our panel’s clear winner: the strongest balance of vapor quality, adjustable heat, construction and traditional-hookah feel.
All three testers put ENSŌ first. Its performance and heat control made it the closest substitute for a traditional session in this five-device comparison.
Strong output, controllable heat, premium build and familiar session character.
Battery endurance was the recurring drawback when sessions ran long or were repeated.
Traditional shisha users who want charcoal-free heating without surrendering control.
You need uninterrupted long sessions without charging or swapping batteries.
Closest alternative: OOKA for convenience; Ennoshi for another adjustable system.
The easiest electric shisha to operate, but its pod-controlled heat profile limits the customization that traditional users may expect.
OOKA scored especially well for setup and cleaning. Convenience-focused feedback was strongest here; the trade-off was the fixed nature of pod-guided heating.
Straightforward preparation, consistent sessions and very little hands-on heat management.
Users could not freely raise or lower heat to their preferred intensity.
People who prioritize simplicity, repeatable setup and easy cleaning.
You want to pack your own bowl and adjust heating directly.
Closest alternative: ENSŌ for user-controlled heat; Ennoshi for more adjustable operation.
A credible alternative for buyers who want adjustable electric heat but do not need the top-ranked level of refinement.
The panel appreciated the balance of charcoal-free convenience and customization, although it remained a clear step below ENSŌ.
Flexible heating, capable output and a practical charcoal-free format.
Fit, finish and overall polish did not fully match the winner.
Buyers who want adjustable heat and a different style of complete e-hookah.
You want the highest-scoring device or the simplest pod workflow.
Closest alternative: ENSŌ if performance is primary; OOKA for minimum setup.
A flexible modular system that suits experienced users better than anyone seeking instant simplicity.
The three testers recognized customization potential, but the learning curve and additional setup lowered its ease-of-use result.
Adjustable session settings, modular configurations and an enthusiast-oriented approach.
More equipment familiarity and session setup than the top three.
Experienced hookah users who enjoy experimenting with heat and setup.
You want a turn-on-and-go experience with little learning.
Closest alternative: Ennoshi for simpler adjustability; ENSŌ for stronger overall performance.
A usable open-system option for buyers who value material choice more than top-tier polish.
Its open format gives some flexibility, but the panel found its broader experience less polished than every other tested device.
The ability to use compatible shisha material instead of relying on a closed pod range.
Its usability, build and vapor experience did not stand out against the stronger products.
Buyers who prefer an open shisha system and accept more compromises.
Overall refinement and strong scoring across the board are top priorities.
Closest alternative: IMOTO G2 for more configurability; Ennoshi for an easier premium alternative.
THE TECHNOLOGY EXPLAINED
A complete electric shisha system uses powered heating instead of burning charcoal to heat compatible shisha material. It aims to preserve a hookah-style session, water base and hose rather than functioning like an e-liquid vape pen.
| Feature | Traditional shisha | Complete electric shisha |
|---|---|---|
| Heat source | Burning charcoal | Electronically controlled heater |
| Charcoal preparation | Lighting and managing coals | No coals needed for intended operation |
| Control | Coal placement and heat-management accessories | Adjustable heat on some models; preset pod programs on others |
| Material | Hookah tobacco or compatible shisha mixture | Compatible shisha or herbal material, depending on the product |
| E-liquid atomizer | No | No — the five reviewed devices are shisha-heating systems |
Health and safety: Replacing charcoal avoids emissions from burning coals during intended use, but does not prove the heated material is safe. Tobacco shisha can release nicotine, carbon monoxide and other harmful substances even with electric heating; the amount depends on material and conditions. Water does not reliably remove these risks. See the US FDA hookah guidance and CDC hookah guidance.

THE FINAL RECOMMENDATION
Choose ENSŌ if you want the best overall result and the closest traditional-shisha feel. Choose OOKA if minimal setup and cleaning matter more than manual control. Choose Ennoshi for heat flexibility in an alternative format. Choose IMOTO G2 if you enjoy configuring a modular system. Choose Lukah Pro if an open material system matters more than polish.
Review all five scores ↗QUESTIONS WE CAN ANSWER DIRECTLY
AirVape ENSŌ led Smokegear’s three-person panel with 9.4/10. It ranked highest for the combination of output, heat control, build and similarity to a traditional shisha session.
OOKA was the convenience winner, with a 9.1/10 overall panel rating. Its pod-based system minimizes preparation and heat management, but restricts direct heat adjustment.
ENSŌ let testers tune the heat more directly. OOKA made setup and cleanup easier, yet the closed pod-guided heating system offered less flexibility.
No. These five systems heat compatible shisha or herbal preparations using electric heaters, rather than atomizing e-liquid. Material compatibility differs by model; Lukah Pro is specified for shisha tobacco while ENSŌ is primarily described for herbal molasses.
No. Avoiding charcoal removes the combustion of coals, but heated shisha or tobacco may still expose users to nicotine and other harmful substances. Claims of safety should not be inferred from these panel scores.
EVIDENCE & TRANSPARENCY
The scores and tester observations reproduce the reported three-adult Smokegear panel data in the supplied HTML. Manufacturer pages are referenced for product configuration and features only; they do not validate the user ratings. The exact tested hardware revisions and dated source logs were not supplied.
