The guide provides criterion-by-criterion figures for Tester A and overall scores for Testers B and C; no missing category-level numbers have been invented. The displayed panel ratings reproduce the supplied Smokegear tester results. Tester A’s six category scores average to the stated one-decimal figure, and the final panel figures are consistent with the reported Tester A, B and C overall scores. Original tester logs were not supplied for an independent audit.
THE DECIDING DIFFERENCE
Greater control without losing the traditional setup. Across the three tester perspectives, Pro offered the most satisfying combination of precise heat adjustment, consistent performance and shisha-session familiarity.
Lite was close behind, and its simpler controls have a genuine appeal. Pro still won because the customization was more valuable to testers prioritizing performance.
“Control, consistency and the traditional hookah feel”
Summary of tester feedback; not a verbatim attributed quotation.XKAH Pro received 9.5/10 in this heat-manager comparison, while AirVape ENSŌ received 9.4/10 in Smokegear’s separate complete electric shisha comparison. Because those are different product categories and separate evaluations, the scores are not a controlled head-to-head result and do not establish that one model performs better overall. XKAH Pro is a charcoal-replacing head for compatible traditional setups; all-in-one devices provide their own integrated hardware. Choose by compatibility, heat-control preferences and setup needs.

NOT YET TESTED
We cannot answer that yet. Smokegear has not tested the ENSŌ Diamond production unit, so it has no score, no rank and no comparison verdict. Its performance relative to the five ranked devices remains unknown until comparable testing is completed.
A charcoal-replacing unit designed for traditional hookah setups. Smokegear has not tested the production unit, so no verdict or score is available.
Manufacturer description: The maker lists an integrated ceramic cup, programmable heat and a quick-swap rechargeable battery.
Official information ↗Another electric-hookah design to watch. The Smokegear Test Panel has not reviewed it, so there is no comparative score.
Manufacturer description: Manufacturer offers a complete, mains-powered electric hookah set; its listed power requirement is 220V AC. It is not a stand-alone retrofit eHMD.
Official information ↗A distinct electrically heated hookah format. It remains outside this ranking because Smokegear has not completed testing.
Manufacturer description: Manufacturer presents Warp as an integrated electronically heated hookah platform, not a universal add-on heat manager.
Official information ↗WOW Hookah and Hookamonk Warp are complete electric-hookah platforms rather than direct add-on eHMD alternatives. Both are unranked because they were not included in the reported five-device eHMD test; no performance judgment should be inferred from the omission.
UNDERSTANDING THE CATEGORY
An electronic heat management device (eHMD or eHMS) replaces the burning charcoal that normally heats traditional shisha material. Depending on its design, it may fit a traditional stem/bowl arrangement, rather than replacing the entire hookah. Complete electric shisha systems integrate more of the device into one product.
| Question | Electronic heat management | Complete electric shisha |
|---|---|---|
| What changes? | Primarily the heat source and its controls. | More of the apparatus may be replaced by an integrated device. |
| Existing hookah? | Often usable with a compatible traditional setup; confirm fit. | Usually designed around its own integrated setup. |
| Heat control? | Direct electronic settings; flexibility varies by model. | Depends on system—some offer presets or automated profiles. |
| Is it an e-liquid vape? | No. It heats shisha material rather than a nicotine e-liquid cartridge. | No, for the systems covered in our charcoal-free shisha comparison. |
Health note: Electrically replacing charcoal avoids emissions from burning coals during intended operation, but it does not make heating tobacco or inhaling shisha emissions safe. Tobacco can deliver addictive nicotine, and water does not reliably remove harmful smoke constituents. Do not infer health benefits from performance scores.
THE FINAL ANSWER
Choose it for the most complete heat-control experience in this test.
Choose it for nearly the same performance in a simpler plug-in system.
Choose it if you enjoy experimenting with settings and setup.
Choose it for balanced everyday ease, control and consistency.
Choose it for another capable charcoal-free electronic format.
No comparison rating is available yet; revisit the category only after comparable Diamond testing results are published.
BUYER QUESTIONS
XKAH Pro ranked first at 9.5/10 in the three-person panel. XKAH Lite came next at 9.4/10.
No. XKAH Lite uses a direct plug-in power adapter rather than an internal battery. XKAH Pro is the cordless, battery-powered alternative.
An electronic heat-management device replaces charcoal heating while retaining much of a traditional hookah setup. A complete electric hookah combines more of the hardware into one integrated device.
No. Replacing charcoal avoids burning coals in normal operation, but heated shisha can still produce harmful emissions and tobacco shisha may deliver nicotine. Water does not reliably filter out all harmful substances.
No. ENSŌ Diamond is not rated or ranked in this guide. WOW Hookah and Hookamonk Warp are also untested.
XKAH Pro was the highest-rated heat manager in Smokegear’s eHMD test. Complete electric hookahs were assessed in a separate comparison, so their numerical scores are not a direct head-to-head measure. Choose based on compatibility, desired heat control and integrated versus add-on design.
